Switching from Clarity
The Clarity questions,
without the consent banner.
Clarity is free and genuinely useful, and it costs you a cookie banner and — since late 2025 — a consent signal for every European visitor. Coruve costs you neither. It also will not record anyone's session, and that is a decision rather than a gap. Read both halves before you move.
What you get instead
Clarity's promise is that you watch one person struggle. Coruve's is that you see the pattern across everyone, without holding a copy of anybody's visit. Everything below is live today, and every line says which plans carry it.
01
No consent gate on your measurement.
Coruve's tracker writes no cookies of any kind, keeps no raw IP addresses, and honours Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. There is no consent signal to plumb in and no region where measurement quietly degrades.
02
Journeys, in aggregate.
The routes people actually take through your site, rather than one visitor at a time — on every plan, including Free.
03
Funnels with drop-off.
Define the steps that matter and see which one loses people, on every plan including Free. The ceilings: Free 3, Starter 25, Pro 100, Growth Unlimited.
04
The session numbers behind the feeling.
Bounce rate, visit duration, pages per session, and which pages people enter and leave on — with bounce and conversion carried on each ranked row, and withheld rather than guessed where the row is too thin to support a rate.
05
Site health.
Real load timings, layout shift and responsiveness — INP, the fifth Core Web Vital — measured in your visitors' own browsers, which is often the actual answer when a page “feels broken”. Split by page, device and country.
06
A written Brief.
It tells you where something changed and by how much, so you are pointed at the page worth investigating instead of scrubbing through recordings hoping to spot it. It advances daily on Starter and above; on Free it moves once a week, on the Monday.
07
Frustration signals, reported by page.
Rage clicks, clicks that hit nothing, and quick exits — reported per page, with the exact control that gets rage-clicked named. Starter and above.
08
Click density and scroll reach.
Where people click on a page and how far down they get — from aggregates, never recordings, so no consent banner is needed. Starter and above.
Head to head
The first row is the whole reason this page exists. The rest is what you trade for it.
Cookies and European consent
- Clarity
- Sets first-party cookies (_clck and _clsk). Since 31 October 2025 Clarity enforces consent-signal requirements for visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and consent mode is on by default for those regions — so without a valid signal, cookies are not set and features are limited. You are responsible for collecting consent and passing it to Clarity.
- Coruve
- No cookies at all, in any region, so there is nothing to gate and nothing to pass. European visitors are measured exactly like everyone else.
Session recordings
Their edge- Clarity
- Records and replays individual visitor sessions, with AI summaries of what happened in them.
- Coruve
- None, and none planned. Coruve will never record a visitor's session — see below.
Heatmaps drawn over your page
Their edge- Clarity
- Renders click, scroll and area maps as an overlay on a screenshot of the page itself.
- Coruve
- Click density and scroll reach ship, and are reported as aggregate positions rather than painted onto a picture of your page — we do not take that picture. Starter and above.
Frustration signals
- Clarity
- Rage clicks, dead clicks, excessive scrolling and quick backs.
- Coruve
- Rage clicks, clicks that hit nothing, and quick exits, per page — live today, on Starter and above. Note that our dead clicks mean genuinely broken controls, a narrower definition than the industry's.
Cost
Their edge- Clarity
- Free, with no volume ceiling.
- Coruve
- Free up to 10,000 events a month, then $19/month for 100,000.
Conventional web analytics
- Clarity
- Present, but the product's centre of gravity is qualitative.
- Coruve
- The full set — traffic, sources, campaigns, locations, devices, goals, funnels, retention and AI traffic — with a written Brief over the top. Revenue, connected from Stripe or Shopify, joins that list from Pro.

The honest part
What Clarity does well — and the trade
Clarity is free, it has no volume limit, and it does two things we have deliberately chosen not to do. If those two things are why you use it, keep it — and read what each of them costs you before you decide they are the whole job.
- It records sessions and we never will. Watching a real person fail to find your button is genuinely persuasive, especially to colleagues who distrust charts. We do not offer a substitute for that and we are not going to; the section below sets out why, and what refusing it buys you.
- It paints heatmaps onto a picture of your page. Ours are aggregate positions in a grid, which is harder to read at a glance and impossible to screenshot into a slide. The trade is that ours need no picture of your page and no consent signal to draw.
- It is free at any volume. Our free plan stops at 10,000 events a month, and a busy site will pass that — which is also why running both for a month costs you nothing.
- Its qualitative feature set is free and ours is partly paid: nothing on this page is unbuilt, but click maps and the frustration report sit on Starter and above, where Clarity gives you its equivalents for nothing.
- It is a Microsoft product with the support and longevity that implies.
Why we will not record sessions
- 1
A recording is a copy of a person's behaviour
Replay tools capture what someone did on your site closely enough to watch it back. That is personal data by any reasonable reading, it is the reason consent banners and consent signals exist around these tools, and it puts you in the position of holding it. We would rather not build the thing that creates that obligation for you.
- 2
So the aggregate has to be good enough
Everything Coruve reports about behaviour is computed across many visits and never traces back to one. Where a click map cell would be thin enough to identify somebody, the position is withheld and the page tells you how many clicks were held back — a count, never a place, and the totals still add up.
- 3
Run both if you need both
This is a real option and we will not pretend otherwise. Keep Clarity for the recordings if your team relies on them, and use Coruve for measurement that does not need a consent banner in front of it. Adding our script tag takes a minute and changes nothing about your Clarity setup.
- 4
Or start with the free plan and see what you actually miss
10,000 events a month is enough to find out whether the pattern answers your question or whether you really did need the tape. Either answer is useful and neither costs anything.
Try it beside what you already have
Run both for a week and compare. The Free plan is the trial — one snippet, real data, no credit card.
